Moscow, July 20 (dpa/GNA) – At least five passengers on a bus were killed in a Ukrainian drone strike in the Russian border region of Belgorod on Monday, acting regional governor Alexander Shuvaev reported.
The attack occurred in Shebekino, a town lying south-east of the city of Belgorod and close to the border with Ukraine. At least 23 other passengers were injured, Shuvaev said. He described the dead as four women and a boy.
The Belgorod region serves as a staging area for Russian forces prosecuting the war on Ukraine. Ukrainian forces launching drone strikes on targets inside Russia as they ward off the full-scale invasion that began in February 2022.
