Dambai (O/R) July 7, GNA- A total of 8,406 delegates are expected to cast their ballots in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) constituency executive elections across the nine constituencies in the Oti Region this weekend.

Mr Jonathan Akpabeh, the Oti Regional Secretary of the NPP, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dambai.

He said all necessary arrangements had been put in place by the Regional Executive Committee in collaboration with the party’s national leadership to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible election.

Mr Akpabeh expressed confidence that the elections would be conducted smoothly, describing the exercise as an important step in strengthening the party’s grassroots structures ahead of the 2028 general elections.

He noted that the party remained committed to upholding democratic principles and ensuring a level playing field for all contestants seeking various constituency executive positions.

The Regional Secretary appealed to all aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns with decorum and refrain from acts that could undermine the unity of the party.

He urged contestants to accept the outcome of the elections in good faith and channel any grievances through the party’s laid-down dispute resolution mechanisms rather than resorting to actions that could create disaffection.

Mr Akpabeh stressed that the NPP’s ultimate objective was to build a united and formidable front capable of recapturing political power in the 2028 general elections.

He therefore called on party faithful to rally behind the elected executives after the polls, regardless of their preferred candidates, and work collectively towards strengthening the party across the Oti Region.

According to him, unity, discipline and hard work would be critical in positioning the NPP for electoral victory in 2028.

The constituency executive elections form part of the party’s nationwide internal electoral process aimed at electing new constituency officers to steer the affairs of the NPP at the grassroots level for the next four years.
