Mampong (Ash), July 17 GNA – Mr Peter Abum Sarkodie, the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Asante-Mampong has stressed the need for the party to strengthen its structures, especially at the grassroots.
He said it would help in mobilising voters to support the party in the 2028 general elections.
Mr Sarkodie said one major thing that would help the NPP win power in 2028 would be its ability to connect well with people at the grassroots.
Speaking to Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Asante-Mampong, he said effective grassroots support would not only make the party stronger but also go a long way to help it win power.
“For me the grassroots forms part of the foundation of the party and needs to be strengthened. We need to rebuild the party’s foundations by visiting the remote communities and making friends with them, as well as helping them,” he stated.
Mr Sarkodie said, after a successful constituency election, the party must not wait until close to elections before campaigning but must continue telling of its good deeds to the public.
“We must effectively explain the NPP policies and work to the small communities,” he said.
Mr Sarkodie, who was also the former Chief Executive of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), encouraged every executive member, supporter and sympathiser of the party to propagate the NPP message.
“Winning back power in 2028 is possible, if we remain united and work hard towards common goal,” he noted.
He urged party members to bury their differences and work as a team, supporting each other to achieve their goal.
He further urged the NPP leadership to remain focus, support ordinary party faithfuls and sympathisers to win back their trust and confidence.
Mr Sarkodie said the community engagement must not be taken for granted, adding that, NPP must arise and work hard at the community level more than ever.
Additionally, a much stronger force was needed by the NPP, and this could be achieved through committed leadership, unity, love, and hard work at all corners of the country, he said.
He reiterated that all internal differences must be settled for unity to prevail, for the party to win power in 2028.
