Assin Akrofuom (C/R), Aug. 8, GNA – KOA Green Initiative, a beverage company, has organised its maiden environmental challenge among three senior high schools (SHSs) to promote environmental education among students in the Assin enclave.
The competition formed part of activities to climax the organisation’s fifth anniversary at Assin Akrofuom in the Assin South District of the Central Region.
The participating schools were Assin Manso Senior High School (SHS), Obiri Yeboah SHS and Assin Nsuta Agric SHS.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Mr George Gyebeng, Human Resource Manager, said the environmental pitch competition was aimed at encouraging students to develop innovative solutions to environmental challenges in their respective schools.
He said the competition also formed part of the organisation’s commitment to raising a new generation of climate-conscious leaders.
Mr Gyebeng explained that each school identified a current environmental problem in its school and proposed a solution, including an attached budget, which KOA Green Initiative would support with assistance from other partners.
At the end of the competition, Assin Nsuta Agric SHS emerged overall winner after a rigorous selection process by a panel of judges.
Mr Gyebeng congratulated the winners and wished them well, while urging the other participating schools not to relent but continue to research and develop innovative solutions to environmental challenges.
