Kwesimintsim (W/R), July 2, GNA – Mr Abdul-Majeed Dokurgu, the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has called on Ghanaians to renew their commitment to the values that promote national development and prosperity.
He made the call at the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving Service organised by the Effia-Kwesimintsim Municipal Assembly (EKMA) at Kwesimintsim in the Western Region.
The joint Christian-Muslim service was held on the theme: “Resetting Our Values to Build the Ghana We Want.”

The event brought together religious leaders, Zongo chiefs, traditional authorities, security personnel, Assembly Members and members of the public.
Mr Dokurgu said the strength and progress of a nation depended not only on its natural resources but also on the character and values of its people.
He said integrity, discipline, honesty, respect, accountability and patriotism formed the foundation of strong and prosperous societies.
“However, we must acknowledge that some of these values have eroded over time, leading to growing concerns of indiscipline, corruption, and disregard for the rule of law,” the MCE stated.
The MCE described the prayer and thanksgiving gathering as a wake-up call and an opportunity for citizens to renew their commitment to positive values and national development.

Mr Dokurgu said: “As we pray today, let our prayers inspire action. Let this not be just another event, but a turning point that strengthens our resolve to build a better municipality and a stronger Ghana for all.”
He applauded the continuous inter-religious peace and unity among the Christian and Muslim faithful, saying; “This unity in diversity remains one of Ghana’s greatest strengths, and we must continue to cherish and protect it.”
Prayers were offered by Christian, Muslim and traditional religious leaders for divine guidance, peace and wisdom for both citizens and national leaders as they work towards building a better Ghana.
