Denu (V/R), July 13, GNA — The Ketu South Municipal Assembly has been ranked 125th in Ghana’s 2025 Public Financial Management (PFM) Compliance League Table, according to a report by the Centre for Local Governance Advocacy (CLGA).
The Assembly scored 56.50 per cent in the 2025 assessment, a sharp decline from its 15th position in 2024.
The report further indicated that the Assembly placed 9th in the Volta Regional league in 2025, compared to its 4th position in 2024.
The ranking, now in its third edition and supported by the European Union, evaluates the performance of all 261 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) based on compliance with key PFM regulations, including budgeting, financial reporting, procurement practices and internal controls.
In the Volta Region, the North Tongu District Assembly emerged as the top performer with a score of 90.40 per cent, improving significantly from its 11th position in the region in 2024.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency, Mr Clement Agbotey, Chairman of the Finance and Administration Committee of the Ketu South Municipal Assembly, said although the score fell short of expectations, it did not represent a complete failure.
He noted that the assessment was conducted prior to his assumption of office but assured that the newly constituted committee would prioritise the performance indicators to improve the Assembly’s ranking.
Mr Agbotey called on the management of the Assembly to address identified gaps and ensure strict adherence to public financial management guidelines in all operations.
The PFM Compliance League Table is aimed at promoting transparency, accountability and improved financial governance among local government authorities by assessing and ranking assemblies based on their adherence to established financial management standards.
