Benkum SHS emerges overall best at CODEAVOUR’ 7.0

Akuapem (ER), July 02, GNA – The Benkum Senior High School (SHS) in Larteh Akuapem in the Eastern Region, has been crowned the overall best School at the maiden ‘CODEAVOUR 7.0’ National Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Coding Competition. 

CODEAVOUR 7.0 is an international Artificial Intelligence, Coding and Robotics competition designed to expose learners to emerging technologies including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR), Coding, and Robotics. 

The two-day national competition, organised by the Ghana Education Service (GES) through its National STEM Resource Unit in collaboration with CKBS-The Robotics Masters, brought together some of Ghana’s most talented young innovators to showcase their creativity, programming skills, and technological innovations. 

The event, held at the Methodist Girls’ Senior High School, Akuapem-Mamfe, assembled selected Senior High Schools from across the country to compete in robotics, coding, artificial intelligence, and project-based innovation to develop critical 21st-century competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, communication, and problem-solving through experiential learning. 

The school was represented by Lawrencia Tamatey,Teye Carroll Tetteh, Amaokohene Zakiah Jecobed and Quansah Linda 

Other were Woode Nhyira Evelyn, Amanfo Derick Nana, Ainoo Michael Akuffo, Dzaka Caleb Kekeli, Ampofo George Kwesi, Asante Gilbert Asa, Prince Ofori, Amanfo Derick Nana and Anku Stephanie. 

Mr. Enock Ampofo, the Headmaster of the school was full of praises for the students. 

He described the Benkum SHS as one of Ghana’s leading centres of excellence in robotics and technological innovation.  

The remarkable achievement highlighted Benkum SHS’s growing reputation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and demonstrated the school’s commitment to nurturing innovative thinkers capable of solving real-world challenges through technology 

Meanwhile, the Benkum Old Students’ Association (BOSA) received the news with joy and pride.  

Prof. Daniel Adu Ankrah, the President of the Association together with his executives pledged to do everything possible to rally members of the BOSA to push the students to the global stage to make Benkum SHS proud. 

He said: ” The old student association is of the firm believe that this is the best time for prospective students to choose Benkum SHS as a school of choice.” 

The official list of participating schools included Methodist Girls’ Senior High School, Mamfe; Aburi Girls’ Senior High School; Benkum Senior High School; Koforidua Senior High Technical School; Pope John’s Senior High School and Minor Seminary; Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC-Legon); Labone Senior High School; and Achimota Senior High School.
