Kadjebi (O/R), July 12, GNA – Delegates of the Akan Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), have elected and sworn in an 11-member Constituency Executives’ to steer the affairs of the Party for the next four years.
The elections, held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, as part of the Party’s nationwide constituency executive polls, saw six positions contested, while five executives were returned unopposed.
Madam Nyam Abena Bigornu, the incumbent Women Organiser, retained her position after polling 664 votes.
Mr Francis Agorson was elected First Vice-Chairman with 508 votes, while Mr Adams Mutawakil secured 672 votes to become Second Vice-Chairman.
Mr Kelebe Paapa was elected Youth Organiser with 628 votes, Mr Abubakar Sedick polled 453 votes to become Treasurer, and Mr Mustapha Ahmed Diarra secured 502 votes to emerge as Communications Officer.
Earlier, Mr Rabiu Awale, Chairman, Mr Abdul Sataru Meriga, Secretary, Mr Ewormvor Richard Senyo, Deputy Secretary, Mr Joseph Nana Oboako, Organiser, and Mr Alhassan Sam Shamoon, Nasara Coordinator, were elected unopposed.
Administering the Oath of Office, Mr Bashiru Sabitiou Yeziru, the Akan Constituency Research and Elections Officer, charged the newly elected executives to discharge their responsibilities with diligence, integrity and commitment to the ideals of the Party.
Mr Eric Kwabena Owusah, the Chairman of the Akan Constituency Council of Elders, who also addressed the gathering, urged the executives to put the elections behind them and unite the rank and file of the Party.
He said internal unity, effective mobilisation and reconciliation among members would be crucial to the Party’s quest to recapture political power in the 2028 general election.
Mr Owusah called on both victorious and unsuccessful candidates to work together in the interest of the Party, stressing that “there are no winners or losers in the NPP family after an election.”
He appealed to the executives to remain accessible to members, strengthen the constituency structures and intensify grassroots mobilisation across all electoral areas.
Speaking on behalf of the newly sworn-in executives, Mr Rabiu Awale, the Constituency Chairman, expressed gratitude to the delegates for the confidence reposed in them.
He pledged that the executive committee would work collectively to rebuild the Party, deepen unity and strengthen its support base in the constituency.
Mr Awale said the executives would engage polling station officers, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives and the youth to reposition the Party for victory in the 2028 general election.
He also appealed to all members to bury their differences, support the new leadership and place the collective interest of the Party above personal ambitions to ensure electoral success in future elections.
