Your attitude, not your degree, will make you successful – McDan tells graduates

Accra, June 21, GNA – Dr Daniel McKorley, the Executive Chairman of McDan Group, has urged graduates to cultivate a positive attitude, stressing that success in life depends more on attitude than on academic qualifications alone.

While earning a degree was important, life demanded much more than academic credentials; it required the right mindset and attitude, he said.

Dr McKorley gave the advice when he addressed the 19th Congregation of Wisconsin International University College at the Charismatic Evangelistic Ministry, North Legon, on Friday.

The ceremony was on the theme: “25 Years On: Advancing Knowledge Across Disciplines, Impact Across Communities.”

A total of 883 students graduated, comprising 24 diploma holders, 827 undergraduate students and 32 postgraduate students.

Dr McKorley encouraged the graduates to be innovative and self-reliant in navigating life beyond the classroom.

He advised them not to wait for perfect economic conditions before pursuing their ambitions and creating opportunities for themselves.

Education, he said, should empower individuals to build their own future and not merely prepare them for employment.

“Do not settle for less. Strive for excellence in your chosen fields. Look out for problems to solve and, in all things, never forget the God factor,” he said.

Dr Lawrence Kannae, President of the University, described the event as historic, noting that it was the institution’s first-ever mid-year graduation ceremony, necessitated by its growing student population.

While the University graduated fewer than 600 students annually about a decade ago, it could now graduate more than 2,500 students within a single academic year.

“Our academic programmes continue to evolve in response to the demands of a rapidly changing global landscape. Wisconsin remains committed to expanding its programmes to meet emerging needs,” he said.

Dr Kannae urged the graduates to uphold integrity and safeguard their reputation.

“Your reputation is the only asset no one can restore once it is lost. You will face moments when shortcuts appear attractive and silence seems safe.

“In those moments, choose the more difficult but honourable path. One decision at a time, you will build a name that opens doors without you having to knock,” he said.

The Wisconsin International University College, Ghana is accredited by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission and affiliated with the University of Ghana, the University of Cape Coast, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, and the University for Development Studies.

The University College has campuses in Accra and Kumasi and offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, as well as professional and certificate courses.
