Accra, June 21, GNA – Coderina Edutech Ghana, an educational technology organisation, has donated robotic kits to the Ministry of Education to enhance the teaching and learning of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) in basic and secondary schools across the country.
The donation comprises 100 robotic kits for basic schools from Primary Two to Junior High School and 20 kits for senior high schools and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions.
Mr Ben Amoakoh, Country Director of Coderina Edutech Ghana, presented the items to Dr Clement Apaak, Deputy Minister of Education, who subsequently handed them over to the Ghana Education Service (GES).
The kits are expected to be distributed to selected schools, particularly in the Northern Region, that will participate in this year’s robotics competition scheduled for August.
Mr Amoakoh said the donation, valued at more than 40,000 US dollars, was made possible through contributions from students of Skyline High School in Washington, United States of America.
He said the initiative aimed to equip young learners with practical robotics skills and prepare them for the demands of the digital age.
Mr Amoakoh noted that the organisation was collaborating with corporate institutions, including MTN Ghana, to establish a national innovation laboratory to nurture technological and creative talents among young people.
“We guide students to build complex robots for competitive events through the First Robotics Competition programme,” he said.
He added that the organisation had established robotics laboratories in some senior high schools to stimulate students’ interest in STEM education and innovation.
Dr Apaak expressed appreciation to the organisation for its support and underscored the importance of partnerships in advancing STEM education in Ghana.
He said the gesture aligned with the Government’s efforts to strengthen digital education through the reintegration of coding, Artificial Intelligence (AI), automation and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) into teaching and learning at the basic school level.
Dr Apaak reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to equipping learners with the digital competencies required to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
