Ho (V/R), June 21, GNA – Captain Martin Zimbua Attah, Battery Commander of the 66 Artillery Regiment and Reviewing Officer for the 14th Handing Over Parade of the Air Force Cadet Corps of Sonrise Christian High School in Ho, has called on cadets to uphold discipline, patriotism and integrity as they prepare for future leadership responsibilities.

Speaking at the school’s 18th Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, he commended the long-standing contribution of the National Cadet Corps since its establishment in 1954 at the Ghana Secondary Technical School (GSTS), Takoradi.

He noted that over the years, the Cadet Corps had produced disciplined, resilient and loyal individuals through structured, military-oriented training and activities.

Captain Attah said the programme continued to contribute to national development by instilling discipline in students and supporting government youth development initiatives.

He explained that the core objectives of the Cadet Corps include nurturing interest in the security services, promoting patriotism and national service, and developing leadership, loyalty, self-respect and civic responsibility among young people.

He urged cadets to maintain high standards of discipline in all aspects of life, including punctuality, turn out, and their interactions with teachers, parents, authorities and peers.

“As a cadet, you must not engage in smoking, drinking, fighting, stealing, gambling, fraud, impersonation or any form of academic misconduct punishable by law,” he cautioned.

Addressing incoming cadet officers, Captain Attah encouraged them to exhibit leadership qualities such as integrity, courage and selflessness, while remaining fair, firm and dedicated to all training activities.

He further urged them to lead by example and remain loyal to the corps at all times.

To outgoing cadet officers, he advised them to apply the skills and values acquired over the past three years in their personal, academic and professional lives.

He noted that the training would be especially beneficial to those who may later join the Ghana Armed Forces or other security agencies.

Captain Attah also cautioned graduates against being influenced into activities that could undermine national peace and democratic values.

He commended the school’s management, particularly the Administrator, for supporting the Air Force Cadet Corps with 40 new cadet uniforms, including boots and belts, to enhance training activities.

He appealed to alumni and other stakeholders to continue supporting the corps with logistics and resources to sustain its operations.

Mr Desire Akakpo, Cadet Instructor, praised the outgoing cadet officers for their discipline, perseverance and dedication throughout their three-year training period.

He expressed confidence that, with the values inculcated in them, they would excel in all spheres of their future endeavours, including performing creditably well should they pursue careers in the security services.
