Kumasi, June 2, GNA – As part of activities to mark the 2026 World Milk Day, Ghana’s leading diary brand, Cowbell has visited several basic schools in the Ashanti Region to provide servings of complete breakfast.

In all, about 10, 000 students from T.I. Ahmadiyya Basic Schools, Afaus Lovely School and Best Brain International Schools benefited from this year’s celebration.

The occasion was marked with nutrition talks, sampling exercise, and health screening.

World Milk Day was established by the Food and Agriculture Organization to recognize the importance of milk as a global food in 2001 and has since been observed on the 1st of June each year.

This year’s celebration was under the theme: “Role of Women in Dairy and Nourishment”.

Mr. Michael Hagan, Marketing Manager, Promasidor Ghana (PGH), speaking at the schools’ outreach indicated that since 2020 Cowbell’s footprint on the improvement of nutrition within communities had been exhibited in partnership with the 37 Military Hospital.

This has been done through nutritional assessment programmes in some deprived communities supporting health screening, education around good feeding practices and provision of products as part of World Milk Day celebrations.

He said Promasidor’s Ashanti invasion was in line with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; specifically, Goal 2-zero hunger; Goal 3-good health and well-being and Goal 4-quality education.

He used the occasion to commend Ghanaians for patronising Cowbell for almost three decades explaining that “treating our young ones to quality breakfast shows our commitment to the wellbeing of Ghanaians”.

Elaborating the importance of taking Cowbell, Mr. Hagan said the dairy product was a rich source of proteins and vitamins A, B9, C, D, E and K which were good for cognitive development of children.

It also provides energy and boosts the immune system.

He said the Company for the next six months, would organise educational sessions for parents and key school stakeholders once every quarter, covering affordable nutritious breakfast options, role of milk in children’s growth and school readiness and practical ways to improve children’s daily nutrition.

Madam Jessica Adjei Aduwaa, Customer Care and Corporate Manager at Asafo Boakye Hospital, taking the school children through health screening, said milk played a vital role in a children’s growth and development, especially during the early years when the body and brain were rapidly developing.

Regular consumption of milk strengthens muscles and helps maintain healthy body functions, she added.

This, she said, was the reason the Hospital partnered with Cowbell to assess the body-mass index of the students and advise accordingly on overweight and underweight individuals.

The heads of the various schools visited were very vocal in recognising Cowbell’s investments in the development and nutritional needs of students over the years.
