Twenty-nine pick nomination forms for Buem NPP executive elections

Kadjebi (O/R), June 26, GNA – Twenty-nine individuals have picked nomination forms to contest various Constituency Executive positions of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Buem Constituency of the Oti Region. 

Mr Patrick Dzidzornu, the Buem NPP Research and Elections Officer, disclosed this in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Kadjebi. 

He said the keen interest shown by party members reflected their commitment to strengthening the party’s structures ahead of future political activities and elections. 

Mr Dzidzornu said the Chairmanship position was being contested by two aspirants, while two persons had also picked forms to contest the first Vice-Chairman position. 

He said six aspirants were contesting the second Vice-Chairmanship position, making it the most competitive race in the constituency executive elections. 

According to him, two candidates are contesting the Secretary position, while three have picked nomination forms for the Deputy Secretary position. 

He said four aspirants are vying for the Organiser portfolio, while two are contesting the Youth Organiser position. 

Mr Dzidzornu said three candidates had picked forms for the Women Organiser position, with two persons contesting the Communications Officer position. 

He added that two aspirants were seeking election as Treasurer, while the Nasara Coordinator position had only one candidate, making him unopposed. 

Mr Dzidzornu urged all aspirants and their supporters to conduct their campaigns peacefully and in accordance with the party’s rules and regulations. 

He advised them to avoid insults, personal attacks and name-calling, stressing that the contest was an internal family affair aimed at selecting competent leaders to steer the affairs of the party in the constituency. 

He expressed optimism that the election process would be peaceful, transparent, and successful, and appealed to party members to unite behind the eventual winners to strengthen the NPP in the constituency. 

Mr Dzidzornu said the party expected all contestants to demonstrate maturity and sportsmanship before, during and after the elections in the interest of unity and development of the party. 

The NPP has opened nominations for its Constituency Executives Elections, with the nomination period running from Monday, June 22 to Wednesday, June 24, as part of the party’s roadmap towards the reorganisation of its constituency structures.
