Cape Coast, Sept 05, GNA – Telecommunication giant, MTN Ghana has donated GH¢30,000 cash, airtime worth GH¢2,000 and a drink hamper to support the 2026 Fetu Afahye of the chiefs and people of Oguaa Traditional Area.
Mr David Woasey, Area Manager of MTN Western and Central, presented the items to the Oguaa Traditional Council at the Emintsimadze Palace.
Mr Woasey indicated that the donation was a modest contribution towards the successful celebration of the festival and an expression of MTN Ghana’s appreciation for the support of the people of Oguaa.
He said Fetu Afahye remained an important expression of the cultural heritage of Oguaa, noting that it was a time for cleansing, thanksgiving, remembrance and renewal of bonds among the people.
The donation also formed part of MTN Ghana’s 30th anniversary being celebrated under the theme: “30 Years of progress, powered by you.”
Mr Woasey said MTN Ghana’s future strategy was guided by its Ambition 2030 agenda, which focused on connectivity, fintech and digital infrastructure.
He said the company would continue to support traditional authorities and communities because festivals such as Fetu Afahye promoted cultural heritage, social cohesion and national identity.
According to him, MTN Ghana believed that the spirit of Fetu Afahye and its ambition 2030 agenda shared a common goal of renewal, progress, partnership and community development.
He congratulated the Omanhen, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II and the entire Traditional Council, Asafo Companies and the people of Oguaa on the celebration and wished them a peaceful and successful festival.
He expressed gratitude to customers and partners for their trust and support over the past three decades, saying their support had enabled the company to grow and continue investing in Ghana.
Mr Elicot Nana Kweku okyere, Stool and Afahye Secretary of the Oguaa Traditional Council, who received the items on behalf of the Council, expressed gratitude to the mobile network operator for the gesture.
He noted that MTN Ghana had been a very supportive partner over the years, assuring that their gesture would forever be remembered.
