Ho (V/R), Sept. 05, GNA – Dr Stanley Nelvis Glate, a lecturer and President of the TUTAG at the Ho Technical University (HTU), has declared his intention to contest the position of Volta Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He pledged to rebuild the party’s grassroots structures, promote unity and restore confidence among members.
Speaking at a press conference in Ho to announce his candidature, Dr Glate said his ambition was not merely to seek votes but to offer himself for service, unity and the renewal of the party in the Volta Region.
“Our party has a proud history in the Volta Region. But history alone cannot win tomorrow’s elections. We must rebuild our structures, reconnect with our people, strengthen our constituencies and restore the confidence of the grassroots,” he said.
He said the time had come to rejuvenate the party’s base and establish a Regional Secretariat that was transparent, accountable, accessible and responsive to the concerns of party members.
Dr Glate pledged to regularly engage constituency and branch executives, listen to their concerns, provide timely feedback and ensure that information on decisions and resources was communicated openly.
He said effective communication between the Regional Secretariat and the constituencies would be central to his administration, adding that party structures needed the information, coordination and support required to function effectively.
He said the Regional Secretariat must be transformed into a constituency-focused institution where every constituency felt valued, every branch received support and every activist had the opportunity to be heard.
“No MP must feel disrespected. No MDCE or appointee must feel left out. No constituency must feel abandoned. No branch must feel forgotten, and no committed activist must feel unappreciated,” he said.
Dr Glate said the strength of the NDC in the region did not lie in the Regional Secretariat alone, but in the collective resolve of members at the branch, electoral area, constituency and community levels.
He therefore pledged to build a stronger bridge between the regional leadership and the grassroots, saying such collaboration was necessary to identify challenges early, address them collectively and turn weaknesses into opportunities.
He called on party members to join him in a new journey anchored on service, unity, accountability and victory.
“This campaign is not about one individual. It is about the grassroots. It is about the party. It is about our collective future,” Dr Glate said.
He added: “The grassroots deserve a voice. The constituencies deserve support. The NDC Volta deserves a Secretariat that works. I am ready to serve. Let us rebuild the grassroots, restore hope and reposition the NDC in the Volta Region.”
