Mankessim (C/R), June 9, GNA – The Akesedo Nsona Royal Family of Mankessim has opened three books of condolence for the public to honour and pay tribute to Nana Ama Amissah III, the late Paramount Queen Mother of the Mankessim Traditional Area.
The books have been opened at the Akesedo Nsona Royal Family House, the Omanhen’s Palace, and the office of the late queen mother, all in Mankessim.
The move follows the official announcement of her demise on Friday during the celebration of Ahobaa Ketsewaa, an annual festival observed on the first Friday of June in honour of Egya Ahor, a Fante legend who sacrificed his life to save his people.
The announcement was met with intense grief as family members, traditional leaders, and residents broke into spontaneous wailing.
The Mankessim Traditional Council has since declared a state of mourning and is working closely with the family to give the revered queen mother a befitting burial.
A growing number of mourners, including prominent traditional leaders, have signed the books of condolence, paying tribute to Nana Ama Amissah III’s visionary leadership, compassion, and commitment to peace, unity, and development.
In a tribute, the Central Regional Queen Mothers Association described her as a mother full of compassion and love.
As founder and pioneer president of the association, she served with diligence and dedication, championing the welfare of queen mothers throughout her tenure.
“She campaigned for our welfare whenever a dignitary visited our association. We will miss Her Majesty. There is none like her.
“Her Majesty was our counsellor and even thought about our families. May God grant you the comfort you deserve,” the association wrote.
The Monney-Monnie Family also described the late queen mother as a devoted and selfless family member who sacrificed her time and resources for the welfare and activities of the family.
Daasebre Kwebu Ewusi VII, Omanhen of the Abeadze Traditional Area and former Vice-President of the National House of Chiefs, expressed deep sorrow over her passing, describing it as sudden and painful.
“Whatever it is, we only pray for you to be safe wherever you find yourself. May your soul rest in perfect peace,” he wrote.
Nhyiraba The Poet, a granddaughter of Nana Ama Amissah III, described her as a great grandmother, hero, mentor, and role model.
“She was a grandmother who empowered me, together with the youth, especially young ladies in the Mankessim Traditional Area and Ghana at large.
“Your advice served as a compass for me. Your teaching, counsel, and direction have brought me this far. I have nothing to say but to thank you because when death is holding an object, life cannot take it,” she stated.
