Tema, June 02, GNA — The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a suspect for possessing a large quantity of compressed plant material suspected to be narcotic drugs during an operation along the Tema–Ada Road.
The suspect, identified as Bismark Kpormeno, was arrested on Sunday, May 31, 2026, by officers of the Tema Highway Patrol Unit after he allegedly failed to stop and attempted to evade arrest when signalled by police officers and
According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Tema Regional Police Headquarters, the suspect was driving a Hyundai Mighty II container truck when officers intercepted him.
It added that the suspect was pursued and subsequently apprehended at Bundase after attempting to flee from the police.
A search conducted on the vehicle led to the discovery of 12 sacks and 80 parcels of compressed plant material concealed in the container and wrapped in sellotape.
The statement noted that preliminary investigations indicate that the suspected narcotic substance was loaded at Kpeve in the Volta Region and was being transported to Ada.


It added that the suspect was currently in custody assisting with investigations, while the vehicle and the exhibits had been impounded for evidential purposes.
The Tema Regional Police Command assured the public of its continued commitment to combating drug trafficking and other criminal activities within its jurisdiction.
It also appealed to the public to support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities to aid crime prevention and detection.
