Tamale, June 03, GNA – Alhaji Alhassan Suhuyini, Member of Parliament for Tamale North Constituency and Deputy Minister for Roads and Highways has handed over a newly constructed classroom block to Darul-Ulum Primary School at Kanvili Kpawomo in the Sagnarigu Municipality of the Northern Region.
The project, funded by Qatar Charity, comprises a six-unit classroom block, a library, an office, and a 10-seater toilet facility designed to improve teaching and learning, while promoting inclusive education.
The facility also featured wheelchair-accessible ramps to enable persons with disabilities to access classrooms independently, making it one of the few basic school infrastructure projects in the area built with disability inclusion.
Speaking during the handing over ceremony, Alhaji Suhuyini expressed gratitude to Qatar Charity and its donors for supporting educational development in underserved communities.
He said the project was made possible through the generosity of donors, who continued to impact lives across the world without necessarily knowing the beneficiaries.
He said “We cannot thank all those donors, who continue to impact lives that they may never meet. Their support will continue to transform society even after they are gone. May Allah reward them abundantly.”
Alhaji Suhuyini also commended officials of the education and health sectors to ensure that development projects received in communities were effectively utilised and monitored.
He noted that with the provision of modern educational infrastructure, teachers at the school had a conducive environment to deliver quality education and improve learning outcomes.
He said “The infrastructure provided is one of a kind. The salaries of teachers are assured and now the environment is conducive enough for them to give out their best and help transform the lives of these children.”
Alhaji Suhuyini described the project as a complete package for nurturing future generations, stressing that the disability-friendly design reflected thoughtful planning and commitment to inclusive education.
He praised the architects and contractors for incorporating accessibility features into the facility.
Alhaji Suhuyini appealed to the Ghana Education Service to support in the maintenance of the facility by assigning non-teaching staff including a watchman and a cleaner to the school.
He also urged teachers and pupils to plant trees around the facility to create a greener and more attractive learning environment.
Alhaji Suhuyini, however, observed that the project had been completed within a relatively short period after the sod-cutting ceremony held about seven months ago demonstrating a commitment to delivering promises made to constituents.
He announced plans for another educational infrastructure intervention in the area indicating that a sod-cutting ceremony for a similar project at Tawfikia would be held soon.
Mr Hasan Ali Owda, Country Director of Qatar Charity in Ghana said the facility would provide pupils with access to quality education in a dignified and conducive environment.
He noted that the project formed part of Qatar Charity’s commitment to supporting vulnerable communities through investments in education and human capital development.
Mr Owda said the facility would help equip children with the knowledge and skills needed to become credible future leaders to contribute meaningfully to national development.
He urged pupils, teachers, and community members to take good care of the facility to maximise its benefits for future generations.
Mr Salifu Abdul Razak, Sagnarigu Municipal Director of Education commended Qatar Charity and the Tamale North MP for the intervention.
He said the facility would significantly improve teaching and learning conditions at the school and called for similar investments in deprived communities to help bridge educational infrastructure gaps and improve academic performance.
The Kanvili Kpawumo Darul-Ulum Primary School had, for years, struggled with inadequate classroom infrastructure affecting effective teaching and learning.
The newly commissioned facility is expected to enhance access to quality education, improve sanitation, and provide a safe and inclusive learning environment for the pupils and teachers.
