Ho (VR) Aug. 28, GNA- The Country Observers Mission on Governance (COMoG) has launched a new website as part of its broader institutional drive to improve the documentation of works to deepen public accountability in the governance space.
Mr Eric Eli Adzie, the Executive Director of COMoG, described the launch as the opening of a new chapter in the organisation’s continued evolution and commitment to transparency.
Mr Adzie, told the Ghana News Agency, that the organisations must constantly adapt in how they conduct their work, engage stakeholders, and measure impact, and said that COMoG held firmly to the conviction that every effort undertaken must be counted and properly accounted for.
“The documentation had, over time, become central to COMoG’s institutional practice and is treated not as a secondary task but as a core function that underpinned the credibility of the organisation’s work,” he said.
He explained that every meaningful activity carried out by COMoG, ranging from engagements and campaigns to observations, research, and other interventions, formed part of a larger, ongoing story about the state of governance, and that the stories deserved to be properly documented and preserved.
According to him, thorough documentation served several critical purposes beyond simple record-keeping, including promoting transparency in the organisation’s operations, strengthening accountability to stakeholders, and supporting institutional learning over time.
“Proper documentation also helped safeguard institutional memory, to ensure that knowledge and lessons gathered from past activities are not lost, it will also support more informed decision-making both within COMoG and among the wider public it served.”
Mr Adzie said the newly launched website was a direct expression of the commitment, designed to make COMoG’s work more accessible, visible, and accountable to citizens, partners, and other stakeholders interested in governance issues.
He noted that the platform would function as a central repository where the activities of the organization, insights, publications, observations, campaigns, and institutional milestones could be systematically recorded, organised, and shared with the public.
Mr Adzie indicated that good governance and meaningful impact could not be separated from good documentation and added that impact which went unrecorded risked being forgotten, undervalued, or difficult to verify over time.
He therefore invited members of the public, civil society actors, development partners, and other stakeholders to visit the organisation’s new digital home at countryobservers.org to explore its work, publications, and ongoing initiatives.
He said the platform, and indeed the wider work of the organisation, would continue to be guided by COMoG’s core principles, summed up in the phrase “Observation, Insight, Accountability,” as they work to deepen its contribution to good governance in the country.
