Accra, June 21, 2026, GNA – The Madina Divisional Command is investigating a shooting incident involving Madam Sarah Adwoa Safo, former Member of Parliament for Dome Kwabenya, which occurred at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
A statement signed by Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs, Accra Region, said preliminary investigations indicated that on Sunday, June 21, 2026, Madam Sarah Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear while visiting her late father’s residence at Kwabenya.
It said she subsequently reported the incident to the Kwabenya Police and presented a vehicle bearing registration number GN 3482-24, which had visible gunshot damage.
The statement said the victim had been issued with a Police Medical Report Form and was receiving medical attention.
Police said the vehicle had been retained for forensic examination, while investigations continued to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Family background and her father’s death
Madam Sarah Adwoa Safo is the daughter of the late Apostle Dr. Ing. Kwadwo Safo Kantanka, founder of the Kristo Asafo Mission and the Kantanka Group of Companies.
Apostle Safo, widely known as the “Star of Africa,” was a renowned inventor, industrialist, farmer, and herbalist celebrated for his work in technology, agriculture, and education.
He passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on August 26, 1948, in Bekwai in the Ashanti Region, he founded Kantanka Automobiles and led the development of locally manufactured vehicles, machinery, and farming techniques.
Adwoa Safo announced her father’s passing on September 14, 2025, three days after his death.
The 40th Day Observance for Apostle Safo was held on October 20, 2025, at the University of Ghana Sports Complex, drawing thousands of mourners including former Presidents, MPs, and traditional leaders. e50f
Funeral arrangements announced by Adwoa Safo in May 2026 scheduled the burial for July 30, 2026, at Gomoa Mpota in the Central Region, with a national farewell ceremony at Black Star Square on July 31, 2026.
The arrangements sparked public dispute within the family over consultation and burial dates.
