Dzodze (V/R), June 08, GNA – The second batch of workshops under the Ketu North MP’s Teacher Capacity Improvement Programme has been successfully completed across the municipality’s four Senior High Schools.

The programme focused on enhancing teaching effectiveness through technology and modern educational practices.

The training programme, held under the theme: “Using Artificial Intelligence to Improve Teaching and Learning,” brought together teachers from various educational institutions to equip them with innovative skills and tools to improve classroom delivery and learning outcomes.

In addition to the AI-focused sessions, Basic School teachers within the Torgodo Circuit participated in a specialised workshop on Positive Discipline and Classroom Management, aimed at promoting effective classroom environments and improving learner engagement.

A total of 360 teachers benefited from this phase of the programme. The participants comprised 91 teachers from the Torgodo Circuit Basic Schools, 97 from Dzodze-Penyi Senior High School, 67 from Weta Senior High Technical School, 69 from the Wovenu Senior High Technical School, and 36 from Afife Senior High Technical School.

With the completion of the second batch, the total number of teachers trained under the initiative has risen to 1,024.

The final phase of the programme is scheduled for Wednesday, June 10, 2026, and will bring together heads of educational institutions and staff of the Ketu North Municipal Education Directorate.

Mr Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North and sponsor of the programme, expressed satisfaction with the level of participation and enthusiasm demonstrated by teachers throughout the training sessions.

“I remain deeply encouraged by the response from our teachers and hope that these trainings will further equip them to serve our children better and improve learning outcomes across our schools,” he said.

He noted that investing in teacher development remained one of the most effective ways of improving the quality of education and ensuring that learners are adequately prepared for the future.

Some beneficiaries of both the first and second batches of the programme, including Ms Ethel Fiawornu of Tsiyinu Basic School and Mr Nelson Bakah of Afornyagah Basic School in the Afife Circuit, expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament for the initiative.

They described the training as timely and relevant, particularly the sessions on Artificial Intelligence and classroom management, and pledged to apply the knowledge and skills acquired to improve teaching and learning in their respective schools.

The Teacher Capacity Improvement Programme forms part of ongoing efforts by the Ketu North MP to strengthen education delivery in the municipality through continuous professional development and innovation in teaching.
