Kumasi, June 22, GNA – The United Cadres’ Front, (UCF) a footsoldier-wing of the NDC, has called for the strengthening of the principles of probity, accountability and transparency in public governance at all levels

Mr Shine Gaveh, National Chairman of the UCF, who made the call, said the Cadres’ Front, support the NDC party in government to carry these values and principles in its activities within the current democratic dispensation of Ghana.

Mr Gaveh, was speaking at the national Cadres’ Day ceremony in Kumasi, to mark the 43rd anniversary of the June 4, revolution.

The ceremony brought together constituency, regional and national executives of the wing,  former Members of Parliament (MPs), Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs), national, regional and constituency executives as well as other members of the party.

It was held on the theme: â€śEnsuring Transparent Governance: The Role of Cadres,” and was aimed at reflecting on the principles of cadre front and its impact on party reorganization and governance.

Mr Gaveh described cadre members as trained, dedicated and loyal members of an organization who serve as the backbone of a movement.

He said cadres mobilized voters, spread good news, organized grassroots, campaigned and educated members about the rules, vision and principles of the NDC, which had helped sustained and improved all party activities.

He therefore, encouraged the youth in the party to submit themselves to the activities of the cadre groups to protect votes, and ensure electoral victory for the party as a goodwill function beyond being just members, but active role players in it.

This he said could be achieved through their familiarity about party structures, rules, principles and involvement in all activities.

He pointed out that cadres over the years, had worked hard against divisions, diversions, obstructions and factions that could had affected the party’s fortunes and growth.

Members had rather, worked and strengthened unity, understanding and commitment that had led to party successes.

Mr Kofi Topeng, the Ashanti Regional Vice Chairman of UCF, described the wing as a fertile soil for preparing competent and hardworking personnel for party and governmental positions due to the sacrificial activities of the wing.

He stated that polling agents were often recruited from cadres to render voluntary services to the party during election periods and for other special assignments, which signified loyalty and submission for society.

He encouraged the youth to remain loyal and committed as the government worked to create opportunities for them and help them to benefit from their sacrifices.

Mr Topeng encouraged party faithful to recognize cadres as a specially trained group endowed with dedication and loyalty.

He said UCF would continue to support the agenda of the administration of “Team Mahama” to prosecute the “Resetting Agenda” through the policies and programmes of the government.

Mr Johnny Osei Kofi, a former MP and Chairperson for the occasion, commended members for attending the programme and appealed for their continuous commitment to the group.
