Accra, June 28, GNA – Mr Gilbert Abeiku Santana Aggrey, a Deputy Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority has commended the Mfantsiman Old Girls Association (MOGA) for the organisation of the annual National Health Walk.

He described this year’s event held at the University of Ghana vicinity in Accra as a great initiative for bringing old students of Mfantsiman Girls and other schools in the country together to participate in the fitness exercise

The MOGA National Health Walk is an annual event on the calendar of the association and part of their broader commitment to promoting preventive health, wellness, and community engagement.

The activities of the 2026 programme simultaneously took place across all Regional Chapters in Ghana and in the diaspora, which included health walk, aerobic session and health screening exercises for over 500 old girls of the Mfantsman Girls Senior High School.

Mr Aggrey in an interview with the Ghana News Agency noted that because of the busy schedules of workers, particularly corporate staff and their long-distance travels to workplaces they do not have time to exercise.

He also cited lack of parks in communities and recreational facilities, where people could  exercise their body couple with some lifestyles have resulted in the rise of non-communicable diseases.

“For these reasons I am happy to see the great initiative of MOGA as very important and the beautiful part of it is the participation of old students from other schools, such as Adisadel, Ghana National, Mfantsipim, among others.

“The essence of such initiatives is networking, getting to know people of different organisations and industries, to create social cohesion and opportunities, and I commend MOGA for that. It is healthy and beneficial,” stated.

Mrs Henrietta Opoku Amissah, the National President of MOGA expressed gratitude to organisations for their contributions to the programme and all members who participated.

She called on members to continue to support the efforts of the national executives in sustaining the Association while building their alma mater, saying “Without your financial support, network, and knowledge we cannot do much.

“MOGA is not MOGA if you are not part of it. So, wherever you are,  let us gather around and build a strong association,” she emphasised.

She described this year’s event as joyful one, adding, “We have a good time, free health screening, good walking exercise, as well as aerobics, and networked with other old students of ADISCO, Mfantsipim, Ghana National, St. Mary’s and among others.

On indiscipline in schools, Mrs Amissah asked the students of the Mfantsiman Girls to live the slogan of the school “Obranye Wora abo” meaning life is what you make it.

She advised students to learn hard, saying, “If you put in hard work like all of us did in school, which is difficult though, you will turnout well. This life you can only live it once; and therefore, you cannot take your freedom in school for granted.”
