Accra, June 23, GNA – Governance professionals across Ghana are set to gather in Accra for the maiden edition of the Company Secretaries’ Summit and Awards, an event aimed at strengthening governance leadership and enhancing boardroom effectiveness in an evolving corporate environment.
The summit, scheduled for July 16, 2026, at the Labadi Beach Hotel, is being organised by Mindful Governance and is expected to attract about 200 participants, including company secretaries, governance experts, policymakers, and institutional leaders.
A statement issued by Madam Catherine Engmann, the Managing Director of Mindful Governance, described the event as a timely intervention designed to equip governance professionals with the skills, networks, and insights required to navigate increasingly complex institutional and corporate landscapes.
“The governance landscape in Ghana is undergoing significant transformation, placing growing demands on company secretaries to support effective decision-making, strengthen governance culture, and provide strategic leadership within organisations,” it added.
It said the role of the company secretary had never been more critical, and that corporate boards were increasingly demanding agility, foresight, and ethical leadership in response to shifting stakeholder expectations and governance standards.
The statement said the full-day programme would feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and interactive sessions led by distinguished governance practitioners and industry experts, where discussions would focus on boardroom dynamics, regulatory compliance, digital transformation, and emerging governance trends.
It stressed that it would also feature an awards ceremony to honour individuals and organisations that have demonstrated excellence and innovation in governance practice.
Madam Engmann said the summit would serve as more than just a conference, describing it as a strategic platform for governance professionals committed to maintaining high standards of leadership and boardroom performance.
“I believe the event will provide practising company secretaries with a valuable opportunity to benchmark against industry standards, engage with peers, and gain fresh perspectives on contemporary governance challenges,” she added.
She reiterated that beyond the formal sessions, the summit was expected to create important networking opportunities that will foster collaboration and strengthen governance practice across Ghana’s corporate and institutional sectors.
The Managing Director said registration for the summit was currently open, encouraging interested participants to register early through the official event portal.
“As governance systems continue to evolve globally, the Company Secretaries’ Summit and Awards is expected to provide a critical forum for reflection, dialogue, and forward-looking leadership within Ghana’s governance space,” she stressed.
