Akatsi (V/R), June 26, GNA – More than 1,000 residents under the Sogakope Area of the Church of Pentecost (COP) have benefited from a four-day free medical screening and treatment exercise organised by the Pentecost Men’s Ministry (PEMEM) in collaboration with the Okada Ministry.
The outreach, held from June 16 to 19, 2026 as part of activities marking the National PEMEM Week celebration, was organised under the auspices of Apostle Edward Brains Agidi-Quarshie, the Sogakope Area Head of the Church of Pentecost.
Reverend Prosper Kpeli, the Sogakope Area PEMEM Leader of the Church, said the initiative reflected the Church’s commitment to demonstrating the love of Christ through holistic ministry by addressing both the spiritual and physical needs of people.
The exercise, undertaken in partnership with a medical team from the Akatsi South Municipal Hospital, was conducted across four zones within the Sogakope Area, namely Sogakope, Adidome, Akatsi and Dabala.
Beneficiaries received a range of healthcare services, including general medical screening, consultations, blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, health education and counselling, diagnosis and treatment of common ailments, dispensing of medication and referrals for complicated cases requiring further medical attention.

At the end of the exercise, a total of 1,005 people received medical screening, consultation and treatment.
The beneficiaries comprised 49 commercial motor riders and 952 church and community members.
As part of efforts to improve access to healthcare, clients with inactive National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards were also assisted during the programme.
A total of 141 NHIS cards were renewed free of charge, while 51 new cards were issued at the outreach centres.
The organisers said the outreach underscored the Church’s commitment to community transformation through holistic ministry and improved access to healthcare services in the communities it serves.
