Dambai (O/R), June 26, GNA – The Krachi East Municipal Assembly in the Oti Region will mount a giant screen at the Katanga Durbar Grounds on Saturday, June 27, to enable residents to watch and support Ghana’s Black Stars in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group Stage match against Croatia.
The initiative, dubbed “Van Giant Screen Live and Loud,” is aimed at bringing together football enthusiasts and residents of the municipality to cheer on the national team and strengthen community spirit.
Mr Safo Nketia, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Krachi East, said the public viewing initiative forms part of efforts to promote national unity and social cohesion through sports.
“The giant screen viewing is intended to bring the people of Krachi East together to support the Black Stars with one voice and demonstrate our collective patriotism,” he said.
Mr Nketia noted that sports remained a powerful tool for fostering national pride, unity and community engagement, adding that the Assembly was committed to creating opportunities for residents to participate in national events in a safe and inclusive environment.
The public viewing is scheduled to begin at 8:30 pm., and residents have been encouraged to attend in their numbers, dressed in Ghana’s national colours of red, yellow, green, and black.
According to the Assembly, adequate security measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly event. The Ghana Police Service in the municipality has assured the public of security before, during, and after the match.
The initiative aligns with nationwide efforts by Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to rally support for the Black Stars and provide safe communal spaces for citizens to follow Ghana’s campaign at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
