Captain One Golf Society girls excel at Telecel 69th Asantehene Open Championship

Kumasi, June 30, GNA – Four ladies from the Captain One Golf Society’s kids project competed in the just ended Telecel 69th Asantehene Open held at the Royal Golf Club, Kumasi and three out of the four mounted at the podium.  

The ladies, Ayisha Aminu, Jennifer Satura, Fadilatu Adam, and Zakia Hudu joined experienced golfers in the ladies and support categories of the championship and managed to get a podium finish.  

In the ladies’ handicap finals, a winner of SWAG Awards’ discovery of the year, Ayisha Aminu finished second with a net score of 159 to receive a trophy, refrigerator and a package from Guiness Ghana Limited.  

She was second to Eunice Serwaa Mpeniasah who ended the 18-hole course with a net score of 154 while Vivian Dick finished third with a net score of 159.  

In the ladies’ support group, Zakia Hudu and Fadilatu Adam finished second and third with 38 and 32 points respectively. They were awarded with a trophy and an    executive package from title sponsors, Telecel. Meanwhile, Jennifer Satura finished seventh with 22 points. 

Speaking to the media, Head Girl for Captain One Golf Society’s Kids Project, Ayisha Aminu said finishing on the podium was a tremendous honour for the team saying “We knew the competition would be tough, but everyone remained focused, trusted the process and believed in our ability from the opening round to the final putt.  

“Every player made an important contribution, and that unity was the key to our success”. 

She also mentioned that “on behalf of the team, I would like to express our sincere gratitude to our sponsors, Captain One Golf Society, whose unwavering support and belief in us have played a significant role in this achievement.  

“We also thank our coaches, management, and everyone who stood behind us throughout the tournament. This victory belongs to all of them, and we hope it serves as motivation to continue striving for excellence and inspiring more people to embrace the game of golf and come on board to support the Captain One Golf Kids Project.” 

YB Okyere, the head coach for the team also added that “We’re delighted with the performance of the team throughout the 69th Telecel Asantehene Open Golf Championship. The players executed our game plan with discipline, remained composed under pressure and displayed the consistency needed to compete at the highest level.  

“This success reflects the hard work, commitment and sacrifices made over the past months. Winning such a prestigious tournament is a proud moment for us, and I commend every player for rising to the occasion.  

“We also appreciate the support of Captain One Golf Society for creating a platform that continues to promote the growth of golf in Ghana.” 

 Mr Pius Ayeh Appiah, President and Founder of the Captain One Golf Society noted that “This victory at the 69th Telecel Asantehene Open Golf Championship is a proud moment not only for the team but also for everyone who believes in the development of golf in Ghana. I congratulate the players for their outstanding performance, unwavering determination and exemplary sportsmanship. They have demonstrated what can be achieved through discipline, hard work and the right guidance.
