Accra, June 30, GNA – The British Council in Ghana has honoured outstanding students and schools for excellence in the 2026 Cambridge International Examinations.

The awards recognised exceptional performance by learners and schools in Cambridge International programmes, including the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) and A-Level examinations.

Speaking at the 2026 Partner Schools Awards ceremony in Accra, Mr Nii Doodo Dodoo, Country Director of the British Council Ghana, commended the awardees and acknowledged the collective efforts of students, teachers, school leaders and families.

“Today we celebrate more than examination results. We celebrate dedication, resilience, ambition, and the collective effort of students, teachers, school leaders and families who have worked tirelessly to achieve excellence,” he said.

Mr Dodoo said the achievements reflected the potential of Ghanaian learners and highlighted the importance of quality education in preparing young people for a globally connected world.

He said the Partner Schools Awards formed part of the British Council’s efforts to promote high educational standards and expand access to internationally recognised qualifications in Ghana.

“Through its Partner Schools network, the organisation collaborates with schools nationwide to strengthen teaching, learning, and assessment systems,” he said.

Awards presented included the Best in Subject Awards, Star Performer Awards and the Overall Best Student Award, recognising outstanding performance in various Cambridge International subjects.

Schools were also honoured for excellence at the IGCSE and A-Level, with awards for Overall Best IGCSE School and Overall Best A-Level School.

As part of the initiative, the British Council, in partnership with Academic City University College, announced a Presidential Scholarship Package for the Overall Best A-Level School.

Under the arrangement, the winning school will nominate its current best A-Level student to receive a fully funded scholarship covering tuition, accommodation, medical care, travel expenses and stipends.

The ceremony also recognised Delhi Private School International Ghana as the national and regional winner of the 2026 Your World Competition, organised under the theme: “Smarter Choices, Stronger Futures.”

The school was recognised for excellence in critical thinking, creativity and engagement with global issues.
