Agona Nkwanta (W/R), June 2, GNA — The Ahanta West Municipal Assembly (AWMA) Taskforce Committee, has issued a notice to traders, drivers, transport operators, and members of the public, ahead of a major decongestion exercise in designated zones across the municipality.
The exercise is aimed at restoring order, easing congestion, and ensuring public safety.
A statement signed by Mr John Ben Aidoo, the Assembly’s Assistant Quantity Surveyor, warned that non-compliance would attract strict legal action, including heavy fines and the confiscation of goods.
It directed an immediate cessation of all unauthorised commercial activities on public walkways and in transport yards.
“All traders operating on pavements, over gutters, or in unauthorized open spaces must vacate these areas immediately,” it said.
The statement also directed owners of container kiosks placed on pavements to remove them without delay, adding that the placement of tables, goods, and makeshift structures at bus stops was strictly prohibited.
It further urged traders occupying active lorry stations and parks to vacate such areas completely to ensure smooth transport operations.
