Matse (V/R), May 24, GNA – The Volta Regional House of Chiefs honoured late Togbega Osei Tutu VI, Paramount Chief of Matse Traditional Area, describing him as a respected traditional ruler, peacemaker, and dedicated servant of the chieftaincy institution in the Ho Municipality.
Delivering the tribute on behalf of the House, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, expressed profound sorrow over the passing of the Paramount Chief, stating that his death was a significant loss to the Volta Region and the institution of chieftaincy.
“The Volta Regional House of Chiefs records with deep sorrow the passing of Togbega Osei Tutu VI, Paramount Chief of the Matse Traditional Area. He was a respected traditional ruler, a peacemaker, and a committed servant of the chieftaincy institution,” he stated.
The House noted that Togbega Osei Tutu VI served diligently as an active member and made substantial contributions to the work of the House, particularly in resolving chieftaincy disputes and promoting peace and stability across the Region.
“He served the House for many years with distinction and contributed immensely to the promotion of peace, unity, and stability in the Region,” the tribute noted.
According to the House, his enstoolment as Paramount Chief of the Matse Traditional Area marked an important milestone. Following his gazetting and swearing-in pursuant to LI 1946, he discharged his duties with humility, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility.
“He served without regard for personal gain, guided always by his commitment to unity, peace, and development. His presence at meetings was valued, and his absence during his period of ill health was deeply felt,” the statement added.
The House further described the late chief as a man of integrity and selfless leadership whose dedication to service earned him admiration among his peers and subjects.
“His passing marks the end of a life dedicated to service. He leaves behind a record of integrity, leadership, and commitment to the traditional institution,” it stated.
The House emphasized that the death of Togbega Osei Tutu VI was not only a loss to his immediate family and the people of the Matse Traditional Area, but also to the entire Volta Region and Ghana’s chieftaincy institution.
“The House honours his memory and the enduring legacy he leaves behind,” the tribute concluded.
