Vakpo (V/R), May 4, GNA – The Volta/Oti Regional Office of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC), has assured consumers in the regions of protecting their interests.
Mr Emmanuel Agbesi Foli, Volta/Oti Regional Public Relations Officer, PURC disclosed that Commission’s role in regulating electricity and water services, ensuring fair pricing and safeguarding the interests of both consumers and utility service providers.
He addressed faithful at Vakpo in the North Dayi District of the Volta Region during a public engagement at the St Peter Roman Catholic Church as part of the “PURC Time in His Presence” initiative.
Mr Foli said the initiative formed part of the Commission’s commitment to bringing its services closer to the people while fostering awareness on consumer rights and responsibilities within the utility sector.
He educated faithful on the Commission’s complaint handling procedures, urging consumers to channel their concerns through the appropriate platforms for prompt resolution.
Mr Foli noted that PURC remained accessible and responsive to consumer grievances adding that timely reporting of issues enhanced effective service delivery.
He said the Commission’s outreach initiatives would also deepen public understanding and strengthen stakeholder confidence across the region.
Mr Foli sharing practical tips on energy and water conservation called on households to adopt responsible usage habits to reduce wastage and manage utility costs.
Some key issues raised included persistent low voltage during peak periods, delays in reflecting payments and billing inconsistencies.
The Commission noted that some of the complaints were formally received by the its team for further investigation and resolution.
