Akatsi (V/R), May 4, GNA – Mama Seteakpe II Foundation, a Non-Governmental Organisation in collaboration with Young & Smart Ghana, has announced plans to organise a menstrual hygiene programme aimed at empowering adolescent girls and promoting healthy menstrual practices.
Dubbed “2026 Menstrual Hygiene Program,” the initiative seeks to break the silence surrounding menstruation while educating girls on proper hygiene practices and reproductive health.
Mama Seteakpe Bedzo II, CEO of the Foundation and queenmother of Live-Bedzokope, disclosed to the GNA that the event would bring together students, educators, health professionals, and community stakeholders to discuss menstrual health management and address stigma associated with menstruation.
She said the programme would also feature the distribution of sanitary products to participants, as part of efforts to improve access and ensure girls remain confident and comfortable during their menstrual cycles.
Mama Seteakpe further indicated that the initiative formed part of broader efforts to promote girl-child empowerment and enhance school attendance among adolescent girls.
She also noted that inadequate access to menstrual hygiene products and information continued to affect the education and well-being of many girls, particularly in rural communities.
The Foundation and its partners therefore called on individuals and organisations to support the initiative through donations and advocacy to help expand its reach.
“Together for a healthy period, brighter future,” the statement said, urging the public to support efforts to empower every girl.
The programme, scheduled for May 22, 2026, would take place at Lume Ahugakope JHS at 0900 hours.
