The figures form part of the Bank’s Summary of Economic and Financial Data released in May 2026.

In dollar terms, total public debt remained above $60 billion within the period under review, reflecting movements in both domestic and external debt components.

Public debt as a proportion of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) also showed a decline, dropping to about 42.2 per cent in February 2026 from levels above 50 per cent in the same period of 2025.

The data indicated that domestic debt stood at over GH¢360 billion in early 2026, while external debt remained above $29 billion.
