Dambai (O/R), May 25, GNA – The Oti Region has strengthened its public education and government communication systems with the commissioning and handover of two ultra-modern mobile cinema vans to the Information Services Department (ISD).
The initiative, led by the Oti Regional Minister, Mr John Kwadwo Gyapong, seeks to improve information dissemination to residents, particularly those in remote and hard-to-reach communities.
The vans are expected to support public sensitisation on government policies, programmes and development interventions across the region.
Each mobile cinema van is equipped with a high-powered public address system, mounted column speakers, supporting loudspeakers, and an audio mixer.
The vehicles also feature dual LED screens mounted on both sides, enabling the display of videos, graphics, educational materials, and live broadcasts.
Officials say the facilities will enhance official announcements, community outreach, and direct engagement between government communicators and citizens.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr Gyapong described the intervention as a major milestone in the region’s efforts to expand public education and promote inclusive development.
He expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Government Communications and the ISD for their support, stressing that the vans would serve as practical tools for transformation and national development.
“The rapid spread of misinformation and disinformation makes credible and accessible public education more important than ever, these mobile cinema vans will help bridge the information gap between government and citizens through documentaries, outreach engagements, and targeted sensitisation campaigns.” Mr Gyapong added.
He noted that the vans would be used to educate the public on key issues such as health, sanitation, security, environmental protection, agriculture, education, civic responsibility, and flagship government programmes.
He urged ISD personnel to operate the equipment professionally and responsibly to achieve the intended impact.
Mr Gyapong further called on traditional authorities, opinion leaders, faith-based organisations, youth groups, and community members to support public education initiatives, describing effective communication as a shared responsibility.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to interventions that promote transparency, accountability, and citizen participation.
To ensure wider coverage across the region, one van will be stationed at the Buem-Jasikan Assembly to serve the Guan District, Kadjebi, Nkwanta North, and Nkwanta South municipalities and districts.
The second van would be based in Dambai to serve Krachi East, Biakoye, Krachi Nchumuru and Krachi West.
Receiving the vans on behalf of the Department, Mr Samuel Kuse, Oti Regional Director of the ISD, described the initiative as timely, noting that communication gaps remain a challenge in many communities.
He stressed that effective information flow is essential to transparency and accountability in governance.
Mr Kuse called for stronger collaboration among the Regional Coordinating Council, municipal and district assemblies, traditional authorities, and other stakeholders to help bridge the gap between government and the people.
With the deployment of the mobile cinema vans, the Oti Region is expected to improve public access to credible information, strengthen civic awareness, and enhance community participation in governance and development.
