Kadjebi (O/R), May 02, GNA – The Oti Regional Secretariat of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has honoured 25 workers for their hard work and dedication during the 2026 Oti Region May Day celebration.

The award categories included Best Worker of the Year, Best Female Worker, Longest Serving Worker, Dedicated Worker, among others.

The awardees received items such as freezers, refrigerators, sewing machines, television sets, ovens, and other appliances.

Speaking at the parade grounds in Kadjebi, Mr. Francis Apawu, Oti Regional Chairman of CLOGSAG, said the dedication, sacrifice, and resilience of workers had kept public services running and communities thriving.

He urged Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to continue supporting outstanding workers annually to boost morale and improve productivity.

Mr. Apawu noted that the Regional Administration of CLOGSAG remained committed to impacting lives, which was why it prioritised the needs of workers by identifying and celebrating hardworking staff in the region.

Touching on the theme for the celebration, “Pivoting to Growth, Jobs and Sustainable Livelihood Beyond Macroeconomic Stability,” he stated that “stability on paper means little unless it translates into jobs, better incomes, and secure livelihoods for workers.”

He added that the real pivot workers needed was from abstract figures to tangible improvements in their lives.

On the CLOGSAG 14-day ultimatum to the government, he said leadership had engaged the government and that official communication on the outcome and the way forward would be made in due course.

Mr. John Kwadwo Gyapong, Oti Regional Minister, in a speech read on his behalf by Rev. Harry Nii Kwatei Owoo, Oti Regional Coordinating Director, commended workers for their unwavering dedication, discipline, and professionalism, which continue to sustain and grow the economy.

“Across the regions, workers have consistently demonstrated resilience and commitment in the face of evolving economic challenges,” the statement said.

It added that as the nation strives to reposition the economy towards sustainable growth, it is imperative that such progress translates into tangible benefits for workers, including decent employment, fair wages, safe working conditions, and robust social protection systems.

Mr. Gyapong reaffirmed the importance of social dialogue, collective bargaining, and adherence to fair labour practices to maintain industrial harmony.

Dr. Suraj Issaka Suraj, Kadjebi District Chief Executive, also applauded workers, noting that their sacrifice and dedication had sustained the economy even in challenging times.

He reiterated the government’s commitment to a people-centred economy that prioritises job creation and shared prosperity.

Mr. Prosper Tsormana, a national award winner, on behalf of the award recipients, expressed gratitude to the donors and the CLOGSAG Regional Organising Committee for the recognition.
