Obuasi (Ash), May 25, GNA – Mr. William Kofi Adzowu, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi East, has highlighted a number of development projects and interventions undertaken within his first year in office.
He gave an account of his stewardship at a media engagement at Obuasi which was also attended by other key stakeholders.
The MCE expressed appreciation to traditional authorities, staff of the Assembly and residents of the municipality for their support since he assumed office on May 15, 2025.
He said the Assembly remained committed to improving the living conditions of residents through investments in infrastructure, healthcare, education and local economic development.
On revenue mobilisation, the MCE disclosed that the Assembly generated GH¢3,859,326.79 in Internally Generated Funds (IGF), representing 98.76 per cent of the budgeted target of GH¢3,900,708.45 within the period under review.
He attributed the performance to prudent fiscal management and improved revenue mobilisation strategies.
In the area of education, Mr. Adzowu said the Assembly had undertaken a number of school infrastructure projects to improve teaching and learning conditions across the municipality.
The projects include the construction of a two-storey six-unit classroom block with a 15-seater water closet facility at Low Cost, a two-unit classroom block with office, store and four-seater toilet facility for primary and junior high schools, and the construction of the ground floor of a three-unit classroom block with toilet facilities.


He added that a classroom block was also under construction at Domeabra to expand access to education in the area.
Touching on healthcare delivery, the MCE said the Assembly was constructing ultra-modern health centres at Domeabra and Ayease, each with nurses’ quarters, water closet facilities and mechanised boreholes.
According to him, the projects were at advanced stages of completion and would help improve healthcare access and staff accommodation in the beneficiary communities.
Mr. Adzowu further disclosed that 30 mechanised boreholes had been drilled and installed across communities in the municipality to improve access to potable water.
On road infrastructure, he said the Assembly had constructed an alternative road linking Tutuka-Tiatiaso to Boete, including a two-metre by two-metre double box culvert, to improve connectivity and ease traffic congestion.
The MCE also highlighted the successful relocation of traders to the new Boete Timber Market, describing the exercise as peaceful and necessary for improved spatial planning and local commerce.
He said the Assembly had completed the Akaporiso Community Centre project and procured a utility pickup vehicle to improve administrative and field operations.
Outlining the Assembly’s plans for the remainder of 2026, Mr. Adzowu announced plans to operationalise the existing E-Block facility at Kwabenakwa into a nursing training school.
He said the Assembly would also prioritise the completion of the permanent Municipal Administration Block at Asonkore, as well as construct offices for the Municipal Health Directorate, Municipal Education Directorate and the District Police Command.
The MCE indicated that the Assembly would procure desks, tables, chairs and office furniture for schools and educational offices within the municipality.
On local economic development, he announced plans for the establishment of a 24-hour economy market at the old Boete Timber Market to promote night-time trading and create employment opportunities.
