Sege, Aug. 13, GNA – The Ada West District Assembly is prioritising the provision of potable water, with about 3.5 kilometres of pipeline already laid under the Afiadenyigba Water Extension Project.
Mr Modjifa Tanihu J.J.F Mills-Nkrumah. the Ada West District Chief Executive (DCE), disclosing this at an assembly ordinary meeting said the remaining 1.5 kilometres of the pipeline were expected to be completed within the coming month, after which the second phase of the project would extend water supply from Afiadenyigba to Aditcherekope and surrounding communities.
The DCE said the project would bring relief to households and contribute to improved public health outcomes in the beneficiary communities, saying, “The provision of potable water remains the priority of the assembly.”
Mr Mills-Nkrumah said the assembly remained committed to addressing the water challenges, noting that access to safe water was essential to the wellbeing and development of communities.
He said the assembly was also pursuing other development projects, including road works and improvements in healthcare and educational infrastructure.
On healthcare, the DCE said work was progressing on the Luhour and Koni Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds, while efforts were underway to upgrade the Anyamam CHPS compound into a polyclinic.
He said plans were also advanced for the construction of a CHPS compound at Badzorhe.
Officials of the Community Water and Sanitation Agency, who were invited to brief the assembly on the water situation in the district, attributed some of the challenges to obsolete pipelines that required replacement.
They said efforts were underway to replace the old pipelines to improve water supply across affected communities.
The assembly meeting brought together Assembly Members, heads of security services and heads of centralised and decentralised departments.
