New Classroom Block Ends Years of Discomfort for Okuma-Akura Basic School Pupils

Kparekpare (O/R), May 8, GNA – Pupils and teachers of Okuma-Akura Basic School in the Krachi East Municipality can now study in a safer and more conducive environment following the commissioning of a new three-unit classroom block by the Krachi East Municipal Assembly.

For years, the school operated from deteriorating makeshift structures that exposed pupils and teachers to harsh weather conditions, particularly during the rainy season. Teaching and learning were frequently disrupted whenever it rained, affecting attendance and academic activities.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Krachi East, Mr Safo Nketia, said the project forms part of efforts to improve educational infrastructure and ensure children in underserved communities have access to quality learning environments.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting education through infrastructure and other interventions aimed at strengthening teaching and learning across the municipality.

The Member of Parliament for Krachi East, Mr Nelson Kofi Djabab, pledged to provide additional educational infrastructure and promote a conducive learning environment in the area.

He urged the Okuma-Akura Basic School community to adopt a strong maintenance culture to preserve the facility and ensure pupils continue to study in a decent and safe atmosphere.

The Municipal Director of Education, Mr Philip-Solo Atitsogbui, thanked the Municipal Assembly and the MP’s office for facilitating the project.

He assured that the headteacher and staff would closely monitor the facility to ensure it is used for its intended purpose under the Ghana Education Service.
