NCCE organises Constitution quiz competition for security agencies in Tema

  Tema, May 21, GNA — The Tema Metropolitan Office of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised its annual 1992 Constitution Quiz Competition for security agencies in the metropolis as part of activities marking Constitution Week celebrations. 

 The Constitution Week celebration, observed annually to commemorate Ghana’s return to constitutional democracy and promote civic awareness among citizens, is one of the flagship programmes of the Commission,  

 This year’s celebration is on the theme: “Upholding Our Constitution in the Digital Age: Our Collective Responsibility”. 

 Mr Fidel Nii Akuffo Bortey, the Acting Director of the NCCE Tema Metro, said the competition aimed at deepening understanding of the 1992 Constitution, promoting civic responsibility, strengthening inter-agency collaboration, and instilling patriotism among security personnel. 

Mr Bortey explained that the quiz also sought to promote constitutional literacy by testing participants’ knowledge of constitutional provisions, governance structures, and Ghana’s political history. 

He urged citizens and security personnel to use social media responsibly and verify information before sharing it. 

Participating institutions included the Ghana Navy (Eastern Naval Command), Ghana Immigration Service Tema Regional Command, Ghana National Fire Service Tema Regional Command, and the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Tema Sector. 

Contestants were tested on the 1992 Constitution, fundamental human rights, civic responsibilities, and national current affairs. 

 Top-performing participants received pocket-sized copies of the 1992 Constitution, certificates, and educational materials to encourage continuous learning and civic awareness. 

The Ghana Immigration Service emerged as the winner of the competition, while the Ghana Navy placed second, followed by the Ghana National Fire Service in third place, with the Ghana Revenue Authority placing fourth.
