Opeikuma (C/R), May 12, GNA – Madam Mary Nyamekye Ankrah, Awutu-Senya East Municipal Director of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), has urged students to be patriotic and responsible citizens.
She encouraged them to uphold national values, engage in community service and promote social harmony while contributing positively to society.
Madam Ankrah made the call during the official handing-over and swearing-in ceremony of newly elected Civic Education Club executives at St Brother Andre Senior High School at Opeikuma near Kasoa.
The annual ceremony, organised by the NCCE, reaffirmed the Civic Education Club’s role in promoting informed, active and responsible citizenship within the Opeikuma community and beyond.
The event brought together students, civic education leaders and community members to celebrate the achievements of the outgoing executives and usher in a new team committed to civic engagement and active citizenship.
The newly elected executives are Mr Megan Spencer Kwao, Chairman; Nana Kwaku Boakye Boateng, Vice Chairman; Emmanuel Dossah, Secretary; Ms Rachel Opongbea, Assistant Secretary; Maame Akyea, Treasurer; and Ms Carlotta Bannerman, Assistant Treasurer.
Others are Ms Christabel Tsagli, Organiser; Eryn Sasu, Assistant Organiser; Steph-Angel Annan, Media Manager; Ms Joanne Asante, Public Relations Officer (PRO); and Arnaud Nzingha, Assistant PRO.
Madam Ankrah encouraged the club to focus on safe internet usage, increasing youth participation in community activities, striving for excellence and prioritising national service.
Mr Abraham Seowabor, Assistant Headmaster of St Brother Andre Senior High School, assured the club of the school’s continued support and advised the new executives to perform their duties in line with the ethics, rules and regulations governing the club.
Mr Megan Spencer Kwao, the new Chairman, expressed gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him and his colleagues and pledged to lead with integrity, inclusiveness and dedication.
“We assure members that we will work hard to justify the trust reposed in us,” he said, while appealing to members to cooperate and actively participate in club activities to ensure the success of the new administration.
Mr Nuamah Owusu, the outgoing Chairman, thanked the former executives for their support during their pioneering leadership journey and said the chapter had fostered inclusiveness on campus.
He urged the new executives to remain committed to the growth and success of the club as part of their contribution to civic education in the country.
