Abesewa (Ashanti), May 19, GNA-Mr Yakubu Mohammed, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ahafo Ano South East Constituency in the Ashanti Region has commended the Pentecost Church for its immeasurable contributions to advancing the nation’s healthcare service delivery.

He emphasised that the government alone could not shoulder the responsibility of meeting the health development needs of the nation, saying that as a development partner, the church ought to be praised for its dedication towards healthcare service delivery in the country.

Mr Mohammed gave the commendation at the launch of the Pentecost Church Medical Mission Outreach at Abesewa in the Ahafo Ano South East Municipality of the region.

The Main Line Health, IMAGHE World Foundation, PENSA International, PENTSOS, and Pentecost Hospital at Abesewa are partnering the church in the medical outreach which offered the opportunity for residents in the area to also know their various health conditions through free health screening exercises.

Mr Mohammed said the government required effective partnership with private entities and organisations to advance the holistic development of local communities.

He commended the church for establishing the Pentecost Hospital in the area.

He said the hospital had helped a lot in meeting the emerging health demand needs of people in the local communities, saying that the health medical outreach would help save lives and improve the health status of the people.

Mr Mohammed urged the community members to take advantage of the outreach to know their health status.

Apostle Dr Ebenezer Hagan, the National Youth Director of the Church of Pentecost, explained that the outreach on the theme: “Healing bodies, saving souls”, represented the intersection of physical restoration and spiritual renewal.

“The outreach is a mandate rooted in the holistic ministry of Jesus Christ who cared deeply for both the ailments of the flesh and the condition of the heart”, he stated.

Apostle Dr Hagan said good health remained the foundation for the prosperity of any community or nation, stressing the church’s dedication to alleviate the burden of disease, provide essential screenings, and offer medical interventions.

“The church together with some medical professionals through the outreach will transform lives, not just by treating malaria or hypertension, but by restoring hope to families who felt forgotten,” he stated.

Apostle Dr Hagan called for support and participation of the community members to make that outreach achieve the intended purpose and to improve the quality of life of the people, saying that: “In serving the physical needs of the public, the church indeed will fulfil the highest calling of faith to save souls”.
