Kpone, May 22, GNA – The Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) has organised a two-day workshop for Unit Committee members within the municipality to educate and equip them on their roles and responsibilities towards national development.

The workshop brought together Unit Committee members from all 18 electoral areas in the municipality at the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly Hall.

Mr Jonathan Azasoo, the Lead Facilitator, Zim Multi-consult Limited, took participants through various topics, educated the members on the dos and don’ts of unit committee work and the need for them to discharge their responsibilities professionally.

He stressed the importance of collaboration between unit committee members and assembly members, noting that effective coordination among them was necessary for community development and grassroots governance.

Mr Azasoo advised the participants to work closely with their respective assembly members and consult them whenever they require clarification on issues concerning their operations and responsibilities.

He explained that Unit Committee members remained at the first point of contact within their electoral areas whenever issues affecting residents arose and therefore needed to perform their duties in accordance with the Local Governance Act.

He further urged the members to exhibit commitment, integrity and dedication in carrying out their responsibilities to enhance effective local governance and development within their communities.

Mr George Nuetey Ahingwah, the Presiding Member of the KKMA, assured the Unit Committee members of the assembly’s continuous support, stating that the assembly recognised the vital role played by Unit Committee members in the development process.

Mr Ahingwah said the assembly considered the interests and welfare of Unit Committee members and would not hesitate to help any member who required support in carrying out their work effectively.

He encouraged the participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their various electoral areas to improve service delivery and strengthen grassroots participation in local governance.

The workshop formed part of efforts by the KKMA to build the capacities of unit committee members and improve effective administration and community engagement across the municipality.
