Cape Coast, May 24, GNA – Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom, Chairman of Group Nduom, has announced plans to reopen the first GN Savings and Loans branch in Elmina, where the company started operations before the Bank of Ghana revoked its licence seven years ago.

He said the company had “prepared feverishly” for a swift restart while continuing to pursue legal redress.

Speaking at the third Congregation of the Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT) on Saturday at Ayensudo, near Elmina, Dr Nduom told guests and graduands that the group had remained optimistic throughout the seven years of court proceedings.

A total of 24 students graduated with Bachelor of Science degrees in various business and technology programmes. Of the number, six obtained first-class honours, nine earned second-class upper honours, four had second-class lower honours, four obtained third-class honours, while one student had a pass.

Dr Nduom said the reopening of the bank would follow the appropriate legal procedures, with branches expected to resume operations gradually over time.

“We are working with renewed confidence and excellence to be better than we were,” he said.

He further announced that a banking hall currently under construction on the school campus would be completed to provide students with practical, hands-on training to complement classroom learning and bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Dr Nduom also highlighted progress in restoring other Group Nduom brands affected by regulatory actions.

He mentioned GN Reinsurance, GN Life, Bedrock Insurance, Pentrust and Coconut Grove, explaining that licences which had been withheld, revoked or compromised had either been restored or were in the process of being restored to support practical student training.

Dr Nduom drew a connection between his resilience, leadership style and the character of the Elmina community.

Explaining the traditional names “Anomansa” and “Edina,” he said they reflected Elmina’s resilience and mental fortitude, describing a people who endure hardship, adapt and prosper through collective strength and industriousness.

He noted that Elmina, also known as Anomansa or Edina, had produced many industrious Ghanaians, including the first Vice Chancellor of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Dr R. P. Baffour, among others.

Dr Nduom urged students to take pride in their school and community and to be guided by the institution’s motto: “Leadership, Talent, Light.”

He explained the motto as a call to lead with integrity, cultivate and apply talent, and bring illumination through knowledge and service to society.

Professor Daniel Adjepong Nyarko, Rector of the School, urged graduands to apply innovation and creativity in their pursuits, stressing that such qualities were essential for national development and personal growth.

He encouraged students to transform classroom knowledge into practical solutions capable of addressing local and national challenges.
