Dormaa-Ahenkro (Bono), May 7, GNA – Nana Kumi Agyemang, the Public Relations Officer of the Dormaa Central Municipal Directorate of Education, has advises families, especially those in rural communities to provide meals to their children writing the on-going Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
He said feeding the candidates was not the responsibility of the government, saying that the government would not provide food at the examination centres for the candidates.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Dormaa-Ahenkro in the Boo Region, Nana Agyemang said: “Families are expected to provide their children with meals to comfortably sit for the BECE.”
He said the directorate had already met with stakeholders including parents and guardians and deliberated and addressed emerging issues, asking families to do their part in creating a conducive atmosphere for the candidates to write and pass the examination.
Nana Agyemang said he and Mr Philip Adom Danso, the Acting Dormaa Central Municipal Director of Education, had visited the various BECE centers in the municipality and lauded the comportment of the candidates, invigilators and supervisors so far.
He said the conduct of the BECE in the municipality was progressing smoothly, saying that nothing untoward or irregularities had been reported across all the centers.
Nana Agyemang said he was optimistic that the confidence of the candidates would be manifested into better grades.
