Ho, May 21, GNA – The Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPCG) is adopting a new Five-Year Strategic Plan to guide its ministry into the future.
The Plan is rooted in the Church’s vision to be a dynamic agent of God in fulfilling the Great Commission.
Reverend Dr Lawson Kwaku Dzanku, the Clerk of the General Assembly of the Church, disclosed this in a letter addressed to all Synod Moderators of the Church.
The letter which was titled “A Five-Year Strategic Implementation Plan” and dated May 18, 2026, was sighted by the Ghana News Agency in Ho.
Rev Dr Dzanku stated that the overacting goal of the Plan was the holistic growth of the Church numerically, spiritually, physically and financially.
He said to achieve this, the Church sought to strengthen and retain membership, deepened discipleship through evangelism, diversify and improve funding sources.
The Clerk stated that it was also to enhance member welfare and adopt coordinated approaches to infrastructure development.
The Plan, he said, was comprehensive, with clear strategies and implementation frameworks and required all departments and Church courts to translate its priorities into Annual Action Plans for effective execution.
Rev Dr Dzanku noted that whilst the previous Plan yielded some benefits, it was constrained by financial limitations and low stakeholder awareness.
“But the previous Plan underscored the importance of structural planning,” he said.
Rev Dr Dzanku was of the view that the new Plan responded to ongoing challenges including slow membership growth, the migration of young members to other denominations, limited financial resources, reduced national impact and rise of false doctrines.
“It is an intentional effort to create the future we desire as a Church under God and take deliberate steps towards it,” he noted.
The Clerk said the new Plan was adopted at the 10th General Assembly of the Church in Tamale to guide its Ministry into the future.
He continued that an implementation committee chaired by Presbyter Bernard Daddy, was subsequently established which diligently developed the frameworks and action plans.
Rev Dr Dzanku said in the coming months, stakeholder workshops would be held prior to the national launch of the Plan.
He therefore called on all members of the Church to support its implementation.
The Clerk stated that the Church envisioned reaching a membership of 300,000 spiritually matured disciples by the end of the Action Plan period.
He intimated that this vision was captured in the theme “Agenda for Revival, Transformation and Church Growth.”
