Anloga, (V/R), May 29, GNA-Award-winning filmmaker and creative artist Dela Finn, is once again using the power of cinema to address a pressing social concern.
He is set to premier his latest short film, RED PILLS, a thought-provoking production aimed at confronting the growing menace of substance abuse among young people.
The project was inspired by the increasing number of disturbing drug-related incidents and viral videos circulating on social media, a trend that has sparked concern among parents, educators, health professionals, and community leaders.
The premier, to take place on May 30, 2026, at THE UNDERBRIDGE Event Centre, in Accra.
The film goes beyond conventional entertainment by serving as a bold advocacy piece designed to raise awareness about the psychological, emotional, and societal consequences of drug abuse.
Through RED PILLS, Dela Finn seeks to initiate meaningful conversations around a crisis that continues to affect countless young lives, often in silence.
According to the filmmaker, cinema remains one of the most effective tools for influencing public discourse and inspiring social change.
“Film has always been more than entertainment to me. It is a mirror to society, a voice for the unheard, and a force capable of sparking conversations that many are often afraid to have,” Dela Finn stated.
At the heart of RED PILLS is a compelling narrative that explores the realities of substance abuse and its far-reaching impact on individuals, families, and communities.
The film aims to encourage reflection, education, and collective action while challenging audiences to confront an issue that is increasingly making its way into homes and communities across the country.
In a deliberate effort to preserve authenticity and emotional depth, the film makers assembled a cast of emerging talents whom he believes possess the raw potential required to bring the story to life.
The film stars Jessica Kassah, Gertrude Bubune, Constancia Adorvlo, Efo Kodjo, Leo Lyrixs, Joy Danku, Arnold Wailer, Yaa Flora, and Keeny Ice, all selected to deliver performances rooted in realism and emotional truth.
The executive producer is Synna.
RED PILLS represents a growing movement within Ghana’s creative industry where storytelling is increasingly being employed as a vehicle for public education and social transformation.
Beyond its official premiere, discussions are reportedly underway with a distribution company to secure broader local and international reach; a move expected to amplify the film’s message and extend its impact beyond the premiere audience.
As excitement builds ahead of the launch, Dela Finn is calling on the public, policymakers, educators, youth advocates, creatives, and community leaders to support the initiative and participate in the conversations it seeks to inspire.
“This is more than a film premiere. It is a call for awareness, dialogue, and collective responsibility. Drug abuse is no longer an issue confined to the streets or forgotten communities; it is gradually finding its way into ordinary homes and affecting lives silently. We must confront it together, educate one another, share experiences, and protect the future of our youth,” he emphasised.
With RED PILLS, Dela Finn once again demonstrates the transformative power of storytelling, reaffirming his commitment to creating films that not only entertain audiences but also enlighten, challenge perceptions, and inspire meaningful societal change.
As the curtains prepare to rise on May 30, 2026, RED PILLS is expected to be more than just a cinematic experience—it is shaping up to be a powerful social statement and a timely intervention in the ongoing fight against youth substance abuse.
