Blekusu Assembly Member support BECE Candidates with hot meal

Blekusu (VR), May 5, GNA-Mr Raphael Nukamewor, the Assembly Member for the Blekusu Electoral Area in the Ketu South Municipality of the Volta Region, has supported 60 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates and invigilators with hot meals at the Adina Examination Centre.


According to him, the intervention was to help prepare the candidates adequately for the ongoing examination to yield better and positive results.


Mr Nukamewor, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, during his visit at Adina Examination Centre, said the beneficiaries participating in the BECE at the centre were from three difference schools in the electoral area.


“I am extending the support to the schools under my jurisdiction which are Blekusu Mina Basic School, Blekusu R.C. Basic School, and Volta Gospel Preparatory School,” he said.


Mr Nukamewor told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that inadequate food vendors at the examination centre has triggered the move to prevent any negative effect it could have on the candidates who might not be able to feed before the examination.


He explained that proper feeding would enable the pupils to concentrate and write their papers with a sound mind, with much more joy which would be characterised with quick and fast retentive memory to recollect what they learnt over the years for successful result.


“It is my wish to continue to provide hot meal daily to the candidates and the invigilators until the end of the exams, my challenge is money, and l am calling on all well-meaning citizens of the area to help so that we can accomplish this task together for the success of our future leaders,” Mr Nukamewor said.


He therefore appealed to the general public and philanthropists to assist in the initiative to ensure the candidates were fed well daily.


He further commended other individuals and philanthropists including Togbe Tenuvi ll, who had supported the candidates within the municipality with learning materials such as mathematical sets, among others to equip the candidates for the examination.


He encouraged the candidates to study beyond their limit, study hard and desist from any form of examination malpractices to avoid punishment which could include cancellation of the papers.


Philemon Atsu, a candidate and other invigilators who spoke to the GNA expressed gratitude to the Assembly Member for the kind gesture and described the move as timely and motivating.


They pledged to work hard to pass their examination to uplift the standard of education in the area.
