Anloga (V/R), May 15, GNA – Residents of the Anloga District in the Volta Region have expressed satisfaction with the ongoing installation of an astroturf facility at Hogbe Park, describing it as a major boost to sports and recreational development in the area.

They said the project had rekindled hope among the youth, many of whom had long desired access to a modern, well-surfaced playing facility within the community.

Mr Atsugah Agbenyefia, a football enthusiast and entrepreneur, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, commended the pace of work and noted that the astroturf would provide a quality playing surface for local footballers.

He expressed optimism that, upon completion, the facility would attract competitions and tournaments, thereby boosting economic activity in Anloga and surrounding communities.

Mr Agbenyefia said the project had already generated excitement, with many young people visiting the site daily to observe progress.

He noted that for years, residents, especially the youth, had to travel to other districts to access standard sports facilities and expressed the hope that the new development would end that challenge.

He described the project as one of the most significant sports developments in Anloga in recent times, adding that it demonstrated that the community had not been neglected by authorities.

“We are very happy. This is what we have always wanted. When completed, Anloga will have one of the best sports facilities in the Volta region, and our youth will be able to train effectively and compete at higher levels,” he said.

He further commended the initiative, stating that it would channel the energy of young people into productive activities, reduce idleness, and promote social stability and wellbeing.

Madam Selinam Abigail, another resident, appealed to the Government, the District Assembly, and other stakeholders to ensure the timely completion of the project to a high standard.

She expressed gratitude to individuals and organisations that had supported the initiative and urged authorities to sustain development efforts in the district.

Madam Abigail stressed that the rehabilitation of Hogbe Park should mark the beginning of more impactful projects aimed at improving the quality of life in the area.

Residents also commended the leadership of the Ghana Export-Import (EXIM) Bank for initiating the project as part of its anniversary celebrations.

A visit by the Ghana News Agency to the site revealed that construction works were ongoing, with installation of floodlights, goalposts with nets, and synthetic turf nearing completion.
