Accra, May 6, GNA -The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested ten suspects for possession of arms and ammunition in connection with the Adambrobe-Aburi chieftaincy dispute.
An additional suspect was arrested the following day after being seen in a procession within the township, bringing the total number of suspects to eleven.
A press release issued by Chief Inspector Bridget Opoku, Public Relations Officer of the Command and copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the arrests were made on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
“On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Aburi District Command arrested ten (10) suspects at Adambrobe, Aburi for the possession of arms and ammunition without authority in connection with the Adambrobe Chieftaincy dispute.”
The suspects are Dawu Joseph, a farmer; Kwame Aboagye, a vulcanizer; Samuel Obeng, a taxi driver in Adambrobe; Owusu Paul, a member of the Adambrobe Asekyere family; and Jerry John Kwame Atilla, a businessman in Sowutuom.
The rest are Evans Dekadzor, Christian Atsu, Samuel Annan, Thomas Davidson and Richard Agyeman, all private security men.
“The Police retrieved five (5) Pump action rifles, twenty-three (23) live cartridges, one (1) taser, six (6) phones and one (1) body armour.
“Two vehicles were impounded; one unregistered Ford pickup and a Toyota Corolla with registration number GE 2560-19 which were used to transport the suspects are also with the Police,” Chief Inspector Opoku said.
The suspects are in police custody assisting investigations.
“The Eastern Regional Police Command continues to assure the public of our continued commitment to maintaining peace and stability in Adambrobe and urge all parties to exercise restraint,” the release said.
