He noted that to this end, the government was investing a lot of resources into the education sector to enable it to effectively achieve its reset agenda for the country.
“The government’s reset agenda cuts across all spheres of the country’s development and education is key to this agenda,” he stated.
Mr Ameko said the provision of seasoned teachers, teaching and learning materials, good classroom blocks and decent accommodations for teachers were very crucial to effective teaching and learning.
“The provision of decent accommodations for teachers will not only alleviate their accommodation challenges but will also help increase the contact hours with their students,” he noted.
The DCE, who is also the Dean of Volta MDCEs in the Volta region, stated that it would also help the teachers to monitor the after-school hours lifestyles of the pupils to bring them up holistically.
He said that the location of Adaklu Kodzobi was very strategic for its development, adding that the Assembly would try as much as possible to develop the community to a standard that would “attract lecturers, workers and investors to the community.”
Mr Ameko urged all stakeholders in the education sector in the district to collaborate effectively to help bring back Adaklu to its rightful position in education.
He told the contractors and the consultant that he would not compromise any shoddy work and that they should work hard to produce work and promised that the works department of the Assembly would monitor their performance critically.
“We will not compromise on any shoddy work so put in your very best and give us the very best,” he advised.
He asked teachers in the district to redouble their efforts to supplement the huge resources the government was investing in the education sector to produce the expected results.
Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of Adaklu Kodzobi praised the President John Dramani Mahama for delivering on his campaign promises to reset the country.
He said the three-unit classroom block and the six-unit teachers’ bungalow were the first ever government assisted projects being undertaken in the Community and assured that he and his subjects would give the necessary assistance to the contractor to deliver a quality work.
Mr Charles Kugbeadzor, Headteacher of Adaklu Kodzobi D/A Basic School, said with the ever-increasing population of the school, it needed more classrooms to ease the congestion in the classrooms.
He stated that most of the teachers in the school were resident in Ho because of accommodation challenges but said the provision of the teachers’ bungalow would help address that challenge.
The Contractors pledged to deliver quality jobs and on schedule.
Mr Ameko gave two weeks ultimatum to the contractors to move to site or face sanctions by the Assembly.
